Khalik Johnson

Week 3 – BCFC Players of the Week

Offense – Khalik Johnson, REC-Langley Rams

9 receptions, 136 yards, 1TD

The Langley Rams gave up fourteen 4th quarter points as they fell to the Okanagan Sun, but the club played well in a game that was tight most of the way. Offensively the Rams ran a balanced attack as the club put up 246 yards through the air and 130 on the ground. 2016 all star receiver Khalik Johnson was the favorite target of Rams passers and offered up a couple high light reel catches.

The Rams are in a crucial match-up this weekend as the club looks to move to a .500 record and will be looking for more of the same from Khalik who leads the BCFC in receiving through 3 weeks.

Defense – Danny Harris, DB-Valley Huskers

6 tackles, 1 special team tackle, 1 batted ball, 2 interceptions

The Huskers took it on the chin by a 40-0 score to the VI Raiders Saturday and by all accounts are in for a long 2017 BCFC season. Still, as the club enters a rebuilding phase under head coach Bob Reist, they have a number of talented rookies from the prairies who had been heavily recruited by other CJFL clubs. Winnipeger Danny Harris is among that group and had a whale of a game both in pass coverage and assisting linebackers filling on tackles.

Harris is tied for the league lead in interceptions and will be a force in the BCFC this year and down the road.

Special Teams-Returner, Max JosephKamloops Broncos

4 punt returns for 28 yards

2 kick returns for 57 yards

2 missed field goal returns for 123 yards incl 109 yard TD

Kamloops Broncos receiver Max Joseph was touted as a pre-season rookie of the year candidate. He is that, and Saturday in a barnburner loss to the Westshore Rebels he made a case for play of the year. He was solid, if not a force in every area of special teams and his 109 yard return off a missed field goal in the 2nd quarter provided a huge momentum swing in his club’s favour and caused the Broncos fans “Bronco Stomp” to likely cause noise complaints through-out Kamloops!

Watch this weekend as two of the best returners in the conference meet head to head in the Broncos Joseph and VI Raiders Bryce Mayoh
