Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell today announced the team has acquired right wing Noah Philp from the Kootenay Ice in exchange for a fifth-round bantam pick in 2018 and a fifth-round bantam pick in 2019.
“Noah brings us an experienced forward that has offensive potential. He has played that role in Kootenay and will get the chance to step in and do that for us this year,” said Farwell.
Philp had eight goals and 11 assists for 19 points in 65 games with the Ice last season. In two seasons with the Ice Philp has played 132 games and has 14 goals and 27 assists for 41 points.
The T-Birds wrap up preseason play with back-to-back games against the Everett Silvertips. They will play on Friday, September 15, at 7:30pm at Xfinity Arena in Everett. The T-Birds will return home to the ShoWare Center on Saturday, September 16, at 7pm for their final preseason game.
The WHL Champion T-Birds start the 2017-18 Western Hockey League regular season against the Tri-City Americans on Saturday, September 23 at 7:05pm at the ShoWare Center.
