|NY, NY United World Sports, the owner and operator of the largest annual rugby events in the United States, today announced a unique and innovative club affiliate marketing program for the Silicon Valley 7’s, which will bring most of the world’s greatest rugby playing nations to San Jose’s Avaya Stadium on Saturday, November 4th and Sunday, November 5th.
The affiliate marketing program will give participating rugby clubs the ability to use select tickets to the Silicon Valley 7’s as an asset teams can sell to generate awareness for the sport they love and earn revenue for their clubs. The process is very simple:
|“We like to think of this program as a kind of ‘Girl Scout cookies’ of rugby,” said Jeff McDowell, EVP/CMO of United World Sports. “The local clubs get to network and generate exposure while raising awareness for the sport and most importantly, generating revenue to support their club initiatives. It is a fun and easy way for the sport to continue to grow and will get some new people to experience the fast-growing and exciting Olympic sport of rugby 7’s this November in San Jose.”
Among the 12 teams competing in this debut tournament are the men’s sevens squads from Tonga, Samoa and Fiji, a trio of Pacific Island national teams competing in the same tournament for the first time since the 2007 USA Sevens. Also featured is the men’s sevens squad from Ireland, the first time that the squad will ever compete in the United States. Joining them are teams from the United States, Canada, Australia, England, Chile, New Zealand, Japan and China, coming together at the Silicon Valley 7s as they begin preparations for 2018 international rugby sevens season.
Silicon Valley 7s adds another international tournament to United World Sports’ growing portfolio that includes the annual USA Sevens Rugby tournament in Las Vegas, which is the largest professional rugby event in North America and the annual Penn Mutual Collegiate Rugby Championship in Philadelphia, the premier collegiate 7s championship.
Avaya Stadium, which opened in February 2015, has a capacity of approximately 18,000 and is the home field for Major League Soccer’s San Jose Earthquakes. United World Sports has also partnered with the City of San Jose, the San Jose Sports Authority and the Fairmont Hotel, which will serve as the official partner and team hotel.
In addition to 34 international men’s matches, the event will feature 20 collegiate matches, an international cultural festival, along with an Island concert series. .
Tickets start at just $55 and are available now at sevensrugby.com.
