Day 3 at the Kamloops Best of the West Tournament saw the Victoria Mariners take to the field at Norbrock Stadium versus the Parksville Royals. Rookie Aiden Heinz got the nod for the start, tossing to Hideki Endo behind the dish.
The rookie went 6 innings, with a very tight game until the 5th when the Mariners broke the scoring barrier. The M’s defence was tight and their offence was aggressively advancing around the bags, capitalizing on errors, stealing bases.
Matt Collett was sent to the bump to close in the 7th with Bryce Franklin catching. They shut down the Royals offence and held the score to a definitive 5-0 win, ending the game with a K.
The Lambrick Park Baseball Academy (LPBA) were on the grass this afternoon playing against the North Delta Blue Jays on the Canada Games Field. Gabe Crozier started the LPBA off tossing to Jalen Seto behind the plate. Mason Chamberlain came onto the mound in the 2nd with Zack Swanson coming in to the game in the 5th and Kai Tominaga closing off the session. Despite everyone’s best efforts, the Blue Jays triumphed today with a decisive score of 8-1.
