The Western Hockey League announced Kelowna Rockets forward Kole Lind as the WHL On The Run Player of the Week on Monday for the week ending September 24th, 2017 following a tremendous opening weekend for the Rockets.

Lind started his point-producing weekend on Friday night when the Rockets opened the regular season at home against the Kamloops Blazers. The Vancouver Canucks draft pick recored a goal and two assists in the Rockets 6-2 victory, but Lind’s offensive weekend didn’t stop there. The following night in Kamloops Lind ignited for five points (2G, 3A) helping Kelowna spoil the Blazers home opener 5-1.

Lind, an 18-year-old product of Shaunavon, Sask., set career highs during the 2016-17 WHL regular season, notching 87 points (30G-57A) in 70 games with the Rockets. Over 148 career WHL regular season games, the 6-foot-1, 173-pound right winger has accumulated 137 points (47G-90A). He was originally a fourth-round selection (87th) of the Rockets at the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.

Through two games thus far Lind currently sits atop the WHL on the points leaderboard with three goals and five assists accumulating to eight points. Ty Lewis of the Brandon Wheat Kings trails Lind by a single point through as many games, and divisional rival Matthew Phillips of the Victoria Royals as well as Rockets Captain Cal Foote sit tied for third with six-a-piece.
