BC Hockey announced the roster for the Female U18 Team BC that will compete at the 2017 National Women’s U18 Championship in Quebec City, Quebec, November 1 – 5, 2017.
“We are excited to have such an amazing team of players and staff heading to Quebec in November,” said Team BC Head Coach, Graham Thomas. “We are confident that this group will continue to build on the successes Team BC has experienced at the National Women’s U18 Championship in recent years.”
“We are very proud of and excited for this group of talented young women who have been selected to represent Team BC at the National Women’s U18 Championship this fall,” commented BC Hockey Chief Executive Officer, Barry Petrachenko. “We are confident that this team will be great representatives of BC and the Yukon and look forward to their success at the tournament in their drive to improve on last years’ bronze medal finish.”
“We are looking forward to competing amongst the top provincial teams in Canada this year in Quebec City,” added BC Hockey Female Program of Excellence Coordinator, Whitney Juszkiewicz. “Team BC has an experienced staff and cohesive roster with depth and hockey knowledge. The road to nationals has been a very promising journey and we look to have one of our best showings yet.”
The final Team BC roster was selected during the September Camp currently underway at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Over the past three (3) days, players have competed in two (2) exhibition games against the UBC Thunderbirds women’s hockey team and one (1) game against the Chinese National team, as well as on-ice practices and off-ice training. The camp wraps up tomorrow, Sunday, October 1, 2017, with a final exhibition game against Team China.
Team BC will travel to Quebec City, Quebec for their pre-stage camp from October 28 – 31, 2017, before taking on Saskatchewan in their first game of the tournament on November 1, 2017.
