VANCOUVER, BC – With Saturday’s results in the Western Conference, Vancouver Whitecaps FC officially clinched a home match in the 2017 Audi MLS Cup Playoffs.
“We’ve already seen very strong demand for playoff tickets through our pre-sale,” said Whitecaps FC president Bob Lenarduzzi. “We encourage anyone who wants to be a part of the playoffs to get their tickets early. BC Place will be rocking, not only for the playoffs, but also next weekend for our last home game of the regular season against San Jose.”
Whitecaps FC are currently in first place in the Western Conference. The ‘Caps play one more home match at BC Place before the playoffs begin, hosting San Jose Earthquakes in a crucial match on Sunday, October 15. With a win, Whitecaps FC can set new club records for total points and home wins in an MLS season.
Should the ‘Caps finish in third or fourth place in the Western Conference, they will host a Knockout Round match on either Wednesday, October 25 or Thursday, October 26 at BC Place. A victory in the Knockout Round would see a second home match to begin the Conference Semifinals just days later, on either Sunday, October 29 or Tuesday, October 31.
If the ‘Caps clinch first or second place in the Western Conference, they will receive a bye through the Knockout Round and move immediately to the two-leg Conference Semifinals. As the higher seed, they would host the second leg on Sunday, November 5.
The Western Conference Championship series will also take place over two legs, first on Tuesday, November 21, with the return leg on Thursday, November 30.
MLS Cup will be played on Saturday, December 9 at the home venue of the finalist with the best regular season record.
Season Ticket Members were emailed information on September 29 on securing their seats for the duration of the playoffs, as well as pre-sale information for additional seats and single match tickets. The deadline for Season Ticket Members to forfeit their seats and opt out of taking part in the 2017 MLS Cup Playoffs will be Monday, October 16.
