Penticton, BC: Penticton Vees goaltender Adam Scheel has been named the player of the week for the week ending October 8, 2017 in the British Columbia Hockey League.

Friday night against the Vernon Vipers at the South Okanagan Events Centre, Scheel gave up two goals on 33 shots as the Vees downed the Vipers by a score of 3-2. The following night, Scheel was on top of his game, relinquishing two more goals on 40 shots as the Vees and Vipers played to a 2-2 draw after 70 minutes.

In Saturday’s game, Scheel made a highlight-reel save on Connor Marritt in the second period, sliding to his left to rob Marritt who appeared to have a wide open net. He also helped the team go a perfect 8-for-8 on the penalty kill.

The Lakewood, Ohio native’s record on the season now sits at 4-0-1 after this past weekend. He now sports a minuscule 1.45 goals against average and a sparkling .952 save percentage.

Scheel’s play has helped the Vees to their 6-0-0-1 record, which sees them fourth in the Interior Division, but with at least three games in hand on each of the teams above them in the standings.

Scheel and the rest of the Vees are back in action for two games this weekend; Friday night in Merritt before returning home to the SOEC to welcome the Victoria Grizzlies.
