CALGARY, AB—Make it two wins in a row for the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack at the Dino Cup men’s volleyball tournament.


The WolfPack downed the University of Winnipeg Wesmen 3-2 Friday afternoon (Oct 13) at the Jack Simpson Gym in Calgary.  The scores were 25-22,25-22,20-25,19-25,15-12.


The victory followed a 3-1 win earlier in the day over the University of Alberta Golden Bears.


In this match, TRU was led by outside hitter Anton Napolitano (2nd year, Victoria, Australia). He had 12 kills, 3 solo blocks and a serving ace.

Randy Grundmann (5th year, outside hitter, Winnipeg, MB) had 9 kills, 3 blocks and a service ace.


Cole Hanson (3rd year,middle, Kelowna, BC) chipped in with five kills, five service aces and three blocks while Jordan Foot (5th year, middle, Prince George, BC) contributed  six kills while hitting .600.


Head coach Pat Hennelly stated afterwards: “It was good to roll out a new lineup for this match except for Anton.  Isaac Smit (4th year, Kelowna, BC) finished strong in the fifth sent and Cole Hanson was dominant from the service line.  Alex Cassels (5th year, setter, East St. Paul, MB) was strong along the net with three blocks and four kills.”
The WolfPack have two more matches at the Dino Cup on Saturday (Oct 14) meeting the University of Saskatchewan Huskies and the host University of Calgary Dinos.


Following the tournament, TRU returns home to prepare for their 2017-18 Canada West regular season and home opener on Friday, October 20th. They will meet up with the MacEwan University Griffins on the Warner Rentals Court at the Tournament Capital Centre.  Match time is 7:45 pm.
