Flodell, a product of Regina, Sask., won both his starts this week as the Broncos, the second-ranked team in the Canadian Hockey League, retained their lead in the East Division and Eastern Conference.

Friday, Flodell turned aside all 38 shots sent his way as the Broncos fended off the Vancouver Giants in front of their home crowd. Flodell stopped 17 shots in the first, eight more in the second and 13 more in the third for his seventh career WHL shutout.

Flodell was named the WHL’s first star of the night Friday in recognition of his efforts.
