Victoria, BC- The Victoria Royals are proud to announce that the club has signed 2002-born forward Alex Bolshakov to a Western Hockey League (WHL) Standard Player Agreement.
“Alex is a gifted forward who we think has a bright future in the WHL,” President and General Manager Cameron Hope said. “We look forward to watching him develop, and are very pleased to welcome Alex and his family to our organization.”
This season, the product of Auburn, WA, is currently playing for the Everett Junior Silvertips Elite Under-16’s in the North American Prospect Hockey League (NAPHL 16U). In September, Bolshakov recorded one assist in four games for the Jr. Silvertips at the 2017 North American Hockey League (NAHL) Showcase in Blaine, MN.
This past July, Bolshakov attended the 2017 USA Hockey Boys Select 15 Player Development Camp, where he took part in three contests and scored one goal.
During the 2016-17 campaign, the 6-1, 183lb forward recorded 52 points (36g-16a) to go along with 97 penalty minutes in 36 contests for the Seattle Sno-Kings 14U Junior Thunderbirds of the Pacific Coast Bantam Hockey League (PCBHL). That season, Bolshakov and the Jr. Thunderbirds also won the Washington State Provincial Championship in March. In May 2016, Bolshakov led the Kent Valley Under-14 Selects with nine points (5g-4a) in five games at the May Madness Tournament.
Victoria will continue their season long seven-game road trip on Wednesday night against the Edmonton Oil Kings. The game is slated to start at 6:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time at Rogers Place in Edmonton, AB.
