Salmon Arm won 4-1 at home over the Cowichan Valley Capitals (2-17-1-3) last night (Friday) at the Shaw Centre.
Salmon Arm’s Logan Mostat opened the scoring on Friday, his seventh of the season just 28 seconds into the first period. Rhett Kingston gave the Silverbacks a 2-0 lead with his tenth at 17:06. The home team outshot the visitors 20-13 and lead 2-0 into the second period.
Julian Timba increased the lead to 3-0 with his first of the season at 1:28 of the middle frame. The Capitals found the back of the net at the 18:00 minute mark, 4-on-4. The Silverbacks took a 3-1 lead into the third, outshooting Cowichan Valley 14-6 in the second and 34-19 overall.
Austin Chorney’s fifth finished the scoring at 5:55 of the third, 4-1 Salmon Arm.
The Silverbacks lead 11-8 on the shot clock in the third and 45-27 Salmon Arm total. Kyle Dumba earned the win in goal.
Salmon Arm was 0-for-6 on the power-play on Friday and 5-for-5 on the penalty-kill.
The Silverbacks have won the season series with the Capitals, beginning with a 3-2 victory over Cowichan Valley on Wednesday, September 20th at the Bauer BCHL Showcase in Chilliwack. Salmon Arm lost 4-1 at the Capitals on Saturday, October 28th in Duncan.
The Smoke Eaters lead the season series with the Silverbacks 3-0. Salmon Arm lost 8-2 in Trail last Sunday, November 12th.
The Smoke Eaters won 6-4 at home over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs last night (Friday).
Salmon Arm is 2-4-0-0 in November and 8-5-0-1 at home. Trail is 6-1-0-0 in November, 10-2-0-0 on the road.
Tanner Campbell returned to the lineup last night (Friday). Marcus Mitchell, Justin Wilson and Josh Latta are each listed as injured.
The Silverbacks organization is saluting all of the members and families of the Shuswap Ambulance Paramedics this weekend. The Silverbacks will be wearing special themed jerseys as a way to say Thank you for keeping our community safe and to give respect to these hard working people. The jersey’s police are up for auction online and also during the Silverbacks games this weekend.
