VICTORIA – A tough task lies ahead for the UVic Vikes men’s basketball team when they travel to Alberta to take on the No. 3 ranked team in the nation, the Alberta Golden Bears, on Dec 1 and 2.
Both games are scheduled to start at 8 p.m. and feature a Vikes team that is 5-3 on the season going up against a Golden Bears team that has started their season a perfect 8-0. The contests will be the last regular season games of 2017 as the Vikes try to pull off the upset and move up from their current spot of 7th in the conference.
The two teams last met in Canada West play back in the 2015-16 season and they split the weekend in Edmonton. The Pandas won 71-51 on the opening night before the Vikes rebounded to earn a 66-60 victory on the second night.
Last Time Out
The Vikes come into the games off of their lone bye week of the season last weekend. After starting the season 1-3, the team has won their last four games in a row, recording sweeps of Trinity Western and Saskatchewan in successive weeks.
The Golden Bears were up against Saskatchewan at home last weekend and swept the Huskies by scores of 78-65 and 100-54.
