The Saanich Braves integrated peewee house league hockey team of 11-12 year olds has been selected to represent BC in Bell’s Capital Cup in Ottawa over Christmas. This event is in celebration of Canada 150 and is part of the Ottawa International Hockey Festival (OIHF) in partnership with Canada 150, HockeyCanada and the Ottawa Senators. The “Hockey on the Hill” contest encouraged to make videos and write an essay to show Canadian pride and love for the game.
Sixteen integrated and 16 girls Pee Wee House League teams will represent their regions in the cross Canadian Peewee house division. This is an international event with 400 teams and they will play at least one game outside on Parliament Hill.
The prize includes flights and hotels and 3 games while in Ottawa. However families are expected to cover costs of travel from Victoria to Vancouver, baggage fees, costs of additional chaperones and food during the 4 day tournament. Parents are busy fundraising leading up to leaving for Ottawa on Dec 27.
