The Nanaimo Sr.B Timbermen have hired former player Kyle Couling as the new head coach for the 2018 lacrosse season.
Couling brings a wealth of experience to the team, having played 10 seasons in the National Lacrosse League (Buffalo Calgary), 15 seasons in the Western Lacrosse Association (New West,Victoria & Nanaimo), and another 4 seasons in the West Coast Senior B Lacrosse Association(Nanaimo).
Couling has won an NLL Championship and a Mann Cup, as well as competed in a number of Minto and Presidents Cups. The Timbermen have also announced the addition of local product Simon Stocks as an Assistant Coach. Stocks played 9 seasons in the Western Lacrosse Association (Nanaimo) and another 4 seasons in the West Coast Senior B Lacrosse Association (Nanaimo).
The executive of the Timbermen feel these two former players have the experience and preparation to take the team to the next level, as they prepare for the upcoming 2018 season and Presidents’Cup.
We would also like to thank the 2017 coaching staff of Mike Maughan, Kevin Shires, Jamie Gillis and Brad Lytle for all of their hard work and dedication to the team. General Manager Shawn Swanson, and new Head Coach Kyle Couling will be meeting with the 2017 coaching staff in the near future to establish new roles, either on the bench or at a executive level.
