Huge Two Points For Kerry Park Islanders


MILL BAY, B.C. – The Kerry Park Islanders beat the Victoria Cougars 4-3 on the strength of Cordell Boyko’s game winning power play goal late in the third period.

With 4:36 remaining in regulation, Boyko unloaded a blistering slap shot from the top of the left faceoff circle that beat Patrick Ostermann glove side.

In the penalty box at the time of the goal was Carl Ewert.

Tanner Tiel (2) and Will Connors also scored for the Islanders.

Shots on goal favoured Kerry Park, 33-29.

Replying for the Cougars were Matthew Sparrow, Alexander Benger, and Liam Kinshella.

Mateo Albinati continued his torrid play on Sunday afternoon by adding two more assists.  With nine points in his last seven games, the 18-year-old Albinati comfortably sits third in team scoring.

Elsewhere in the VIJHL, Jacob Sweet stopped 31 shots for his third shutout of the season in leading the Oceanside Generals to a 6-0 shellacking of the Comox Valley Glacier Kings.

Next game for Victoria is Thursday, December 14 versus the Kerry Park Islanders.  Game time at Archie Browning Sports Centre, located at 1151 Esquimalt Road, is 7:00 p.m.
