CAMPBELL RIVER, B.C. – Liam Murphy stopped all 18 shots he faced for his third shutout of the season to lift the Campbell River Storm past the Victoria Cougars 4-0 on Friday night.

After a scoreless opening 20 minutes, Campbell River took a commanding lead thanks to second period goals from Gabe Schovanek, Logan Cursley, and Keenan Toal.

Victoria in that period registered only three shots on goal.

Darren Hards closed out the scoring for his second point of the night with just under six minutes remaining in regulation.

In net for the Cougars was Patrick Ostermann who made 33 saves.

Victoria went 0-for-5 on the power play; meanwhile, the Storm finished 0-for-6.

Dawson Frank and Joe Gage each chipped in with a pair of assists.

The Cougars closes out the unofficial first half of the season first in the South Island Division and third overall in the VIJHL with a 17-13-1-1 record.

Elsewhere in the VIJHL, Cordell Boyko had a goal and two assists as the Kerry Park Islanders held on for a 3-2 win over the Saanich Braves at G.R. Pearkes Recreation Centre.

Next game for Victoria is Thursday, January 4 versus the Westshore Wolves.
