Team BC U-14 lacrosse team recently played at the 2018 Sand Storm Lacrosse tournament in Indio California ( 37 km east of Palm Springs), coached by Steve McKinley of Vancouver. The boy’s got to play on the pristine grounds of the Empire Polo Club, They played the LA Mavericks from Southern California first in game one.The boy’s played hard but fell 6-2 in the all important first game.
With BC pride at stake these kids dug deep to show what they’re made of crushing Palo Verde Rough Riders out of Nevada 8-4 in game 2. Game 3, Team BC Boy’s faced a team from Colorado called Doco Lacrosse Devils, still buzzing from their first win earlier that day BC doubled up the Devils 6-3.
On Sunday the faced another Southern Cal team called the Newport Beach Surf Dogs, whatever they had for breakfast that morning obviously worked because they dismantled the Surf Dogs 11-2 awaiting their final game yet another Southern California team, the SO Cal Express. Needing a a big win to be eligible to play in the “cross over ” Team BC tied them 4-4 ending what was a very proud showing from our young lacrosse stars of the future !!
As one father put it, ” It was an amazing experience for these kids to play team of this caliber but also in front of so many top coaches in the USA”.
