The Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Baseball team lost both games of their doubleheader to the Shoreline Community College Dolphins on a weird day. Game one started two hours late because the umpires didn’t show up and game two only lasted five innings because of time restrictions.

The ‘Pack lost game one in heartbreaking fashion as they got walked-off in the ninth inning, losing 9-8. It was zeros through four innings until Liam Rihela (White Rock, BC) brought in Zac Comeault (Pitt Meadows, BC) with a two-out RBI double. Rihela finished the game 2-4 with two RBIs and a run scored. With TRU down 2-1 going into the top of the seventh inning, Cole Paquin (Regina, SK) led off the inning with a homerun to tie the game. They would go on to score four more runs in the inning. Paquin had his solo homerun and a RBI single in the inning. Malik James (Toronto, ON) collected two RBIs during the game, finishing 1-4 with a run scored. Connor McKenzie (Kamloops, BC) and Josh Snider (Moses Lake, WA) each collected a RBI as well (McKenzie – 2-5, 2B, R; Snider – 1-2, 2 BB, HBP). Zac Comeault – 1-2, 2 R, 2 BB, HBP. Everyone in starting lineup had a base hit.

Tyler Moskalyk (Thunder Bay, ON) tossed six innings in the no decision on the mound. He allowed two runs on eight hits while striking out seven batters. Qwinn Nesplak (White Rock, BC) allowed two unearned runs over two innings. He struck out two batters. Bryant Jameus (Kamloops, BC) suffered the loss in the ninth.

The ‘Pack lost 8-3 in game two. Dillon Ferguson (Kirkland, WA) threw all five innings, allowing eight runs (six earned) on eight hits and two walks. He struck out eight batters.

In the second inning, the ‘Pack scored all three of their runs without a hit in the inning. Two walks, two hit-by-pitches and an error led to the ‘Pack’s three runs. Taylor Van Ham (Medicine Hat, AB) went 2-2 with a double, a run scored and a walk. Lucas Lott (Kamloops, BC) and Yutaro Takasaki (Japan) both went 1-2. Lott also got hit by a pitch. Jackson Dartnell (Winnipeg, MB) and Nick Bolt (Brooks, AB) both scored a run each.

The WolfPack will be back on the field to take on Shoreline again tomorrow. Games are at 11am and 2pm.
