KAMLOOPS, BC—They were few in number but the results were big as the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack men’s swim team participated at this weekend’s BC Tier 2 championships.

The WolfPack had three swimmers competing at the three day event which took place at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre.

Nolan Paul of Mission, BC captured a bronze medal in the men’s 400 meter I.M.  His time was 4 minutes 38 seconds.

That was a personal best time for Paul, who is in his first year of competition at Thompson Rivers after swimming competitively last season in Chilliwack. BC.   The bronze was his first provincial medal and the first ever for a TRU athlete at a provincial competition.

Tyler Gauthier and Matt Gauthier (both of Sylvan Lake, AB) along with Paul made up the Thompson Rivers team and had 10 ‘second’ swims in the competition.

“Overall it was a great weekend for the team,” said WolfPack head coach Brad Dalke. “We had some major breakthroughs.”

As a team, the WolfPack finished 18 th out of 34 BC Clubs.

Next up for the TRU swim team will be participating in the BC Senior Open Championships at UBC  (Mar 17-19).
