As Volleyball Canada’s Nationals kicks off in Edmonton, so does the international season for the men’s and women’s teams.
The women’s team will play in the NORCECA Women’s Challenge Cup (May 17 to 20), which is part of the continental qualification system for the new Volleyball Nations League. In addition to the home team, Trinidad & Tobago and Costa Rica will play in Pool A, while Nicaragua, Puerto Rico and Cuba will play in Pool B.
The women’s matches will be streamed in Canada on CBC, and NORCECA TV in other countries.
The men’s team, which consists of two 2016 Olympians, other veterans and several new faces to the senior squad, will play Mexico’s national team in two friendly matches on May 16 and 18. (Note: The roster for the upcoming Volleyball Nations League will consist of a different lineup, yet to be announced).
The men’s matches will be part of the Nationals’ web cast.
The matches this week will take place in Hall D of the Edmonton Exhibition Centre. The Expo Centre is the site of Edmonton 2018 presented by Inter Pipeline.
