In response to the malicious rumours being circulated by various people and organizations, the Vancouver Island Raiders categorically deny that the team has any intention of shutting down the organization and moving it to another city.
The Raider program is strongly imbedded in the City of Nanaimo and surrounding areas. Our commitment to the City, our fans, our players and parents, and sponsors is very strong and the team has no intention of folding or relocating.
The Raiders have been a part of the sporting and cultural fabric on the mid-Island for 14 years now and we plan to stay in that fabric for a very long time in the future.
The Team has had great success in the past, winning 9 BC Championships and 3 Canadian Championships and it plans to add to these totals in the future while representing Nanaimo and surrounding areas.
As President of the VI Raiders, I am extremely disappointed that we, as a Team, have to address these types of rumours and innuendos put out by people with their own agenda. In putting out these types of rumours, it appears to me that they are very concerned about having to face our team on the football field and are now trying to undermine our organization in any way that they can.
Let me be very clear, the VI Raiders are not moving anywhere.
