The Tier 1 Jr. B Shamrocks hosted the Port Coquitlam Saints at the Q Centre today and 70 minutes of action solved nothing as they played to an 11-11 tie. The Rocks were down 4-3 and 8-7 by period before outscoring the visitors 3-2 in the third period. Each team scored once in the 10-minute extra period. Unofficially Casey Wilson led Victoria’s offense with 4 goals and 1 assist. Colt Gnech and Denton Macdonald added a pair of goals with singles coming from Brandon Mace, Jonathan Boyd and Garrett Wicks. Next action for the Tier 1 Rocks is a match-up on the mainland Sunday against Delta. They do not return to the Q Centre until Saturday, June 30 when they will take on the Maple Ridge Burrards at 1:00 pm.
The Jr. ‘A’ Shamrocks fared slightly better coming away with a 10-8 victory over the visiting Langley Thunder. The Rocks led 3-2 and 6-3 by period but Langley kept the pressure on and got within a goal late in the contest before Braylon Lumb scored the insurance goal into an empty net. Lumb led the Shamrocks with 5 goals, Jackson Boyd chipped in a pair of goals and 3 assists with other goals coming from Brad McCulley, Braydon Brown and Max Wilson. Marshal King played his first game of the season adding 3 assists. The Jr. ‘A’ Shamrocks are on the road Sunday to take on the Burnaby Lakers. They return to the Q Centre next Saturday, June 16 at 4:00 pm to take on the New Westminster Salmonbellies. The Jr. Shamrocks are planning a big alumni night for their home game on June 30.
