Both the Jr. ‘A’ and Tier 1 Shamrocks began their playoffs Saturday.  On the road, the Jr. ‘A’ Rocks dropped an 8-6 decision to the Coquitlam Adanacs.  The Rocks held a 6-2 lead partway through period 2 but saw the Adanacs score 6 straight to take the win.  Brad McCulley had the hat trick for the Shamrocks while Braylon Lumb added 2 goals and 2 helpers with Marshal King chipping in 3 assists.  Cam Dunkerley kicked out 42 shots in goal.  Game 2 in the best-of-five first round series is tomorrow at Save-On Foods Memorial Centre at 1:00 pm.

Meanwhile, the Tier 1 started at home, not in the familiar confines of the Q Centre but at the Save-On Foods Memorial Centre and they took game 1 of their best-of-3 series against the Richmond Roadrunners by a score of 10-5.  The score was tied 1-1 after the first period but the Rocks were up 6-3 after 2 on the way to the victory.  Leading the way unofficially was Casey Wilson with 4 goals.  Singles came from Garrett Wicks, Jonathan Boyd, Brody Black, Liam Phillips, Isaac Swan  and Kyle Pepper.  Nic Coleman had a strong game, chipping in 4 assists while league scoring leader Patrick Dodds had 3 helpers.  Ryan Atkinson picked up the win in goal.  Game 2 of the series goes tomorrow in Richmond.
