The Westshore Rebels are ready and excited for their home opener on Saturday at 4pm against the Okanagan Sun at Westhills Stadium. The Westshore Rebels are hoping to beat their 9-1 record from last season in the BC Football Conference and started off the season with a 19-16 win over the Langley Rams last Saturday.

New starting Quarterback Mason Brown formerly of Acadia University came out strong with 213 passing yards and 95 rushing in the Langley game. Nathan Falito, receiver who played with the Edmonton Huskies last season also had a great first game with a 32-yard catch in the end zone. The other touchdown of the game went to new Running Back, Khaliel James from York University who has big shoes to fill with All-Star Trey Campbell aging out last season. Cody Holmes, Receiver from Saint Mary’s University also played well with 71 yards pass receiving and 32 yards kick-offreturns.
“Okanagan Sun are going to be a tough opponent, but our team has been working hard
and are already working as a team. We need to clean up some of our penalties, but our
defence Is one of the best in Junior Football – they hit hard and fast. I have recruited
some really great talent to replace half the team from last season and I know our fans
are going to be impressed,” states Head Coach Cardilicchia
Notable returning defensive players include Raishaun Provo (LB), Maleek Womack
(DB), Leonardo Ingram (DL), and Byron MacKinnon (LB). The Rebels have also
welcomed former USport players to their defence including: former UBC
Thunderbirds player Jamiel Moore-Williams (DL), Mathew Prusin (DL) from York
University, Lowhya Lako (DL) from the University of Windsor, and Jahmensky Lubin
Merisca (DL) from Saint Mary’s University.
