Slotback Ryan Schienbein posted some big numbers for the Regina Rams Friday night in their aerial attack of the Alberta Golden Bears, as the Rams came away with a 51-13 victory in Edmonton.

The fourth-year Ram was quarterback Noah Picton’s favourite receiver, as Schienbein hauled in all three of Picton’s passing touchdowns. With his trio of TDs, the Regina, Sask. native moved into seventh on the Rams all-time receiving TDs list with 15.

With 13 receptions Friday, he also moved into eighth on Regina’s all-time receptions list with 116, passing former CFLers Addison Richards, Neal Hughes, and Jason Clermont in the process.

DB – Payton Hall

Saskatchewan Huskies

Caronport, Sask.

Arts & Science

STATS: 90-yard interception return for a TD / 7 tackles

For the second week in a row a Saskatchewan Huskie defensive back has been named the conference’s defensive player of the week, as this time around the honour goes to Payton Hall.

The fourth-year Arts & Science student secured what proved to be the game-winning points in Saskatchewan’s wild 48-46 win over the Manitoba Bisons Friday night in Winnipeg.

With the score 41-37 in favour of the Huskies late in the fourth, Hall picked off Manitoba quarterback Des Catellier at the Saskatchewan 20-yard line and ran the ball back the distance, snuffing out the Bisons attempt to take the lead.

Thanks in part to Hall’s clutch play, the Huskies improved to 2-0 on the season, as they now shift their focus to an early season first-place showdown with the Calgary Dinos this Friday at Griffiths Stadium in Saskatoon(7 p.m. CST). The game is a Canada West Football Showcase broadcast, and can be seen on SaskTel, TELUS, and Bell MTS, along with Canada West TV.
