World Girls Hockey Weekend

Canadians will be out in force for the sixth edition of the internationally celebrated World Girls Hockey Weekend, Oct. 5-7, 2018.

 

More than 320 events – from classroom lessons on the history of Canadian women in the game, to outdoor ball hockey games, indoor off-ice sessions, to on-ice try-hockey clinics, skills sessions, and actual games – have been registered with Hockey Canada from communities right across the country. In all, more than 23,000 Canadians will be part of the celebration.

Street hockey game – Banded Peaks in Mountain View, Okotoks

 

British Columbia – Oct. 6

Esso Fun Day – Killarney Community Centre, Vancouver

On-ice skills session, pizza lunch, and guest speakers – Memorial Arena, Penticton

 

Manitoba – Oct. 6

Off-ice skill sessions and ball hockey jamboree – Southdale Community Centre, Winnipeg

 

Newfoundland and Labrador – Oct. 6

On-ice skills competition and game – Bay Arena, Bay Roberts

 

Nova Scotia – Oct. 6

Skills sessions, game, and BBQ – Lunenburg Arena, Lunenburg

Skills sessions and on-ice development – Rath Eastlink Community Centre, Truro

 

Nunavut – Oct. 6

Floorball – Inukshuk High School gymnasium, Iqaluit

 

Ontario – Oct. 6

Mother-daughter game – Nepean Sportsplex Arena 2, Nepean

Girls Hockey Day in Hamilton with the Hamilton Bulldogs – First Ontario Centre, Hamilton

 

Quebec – Oct. 6

Skills surge featuring players from the Montreal Canadiennes of the CWHL – Centre Multisports Châteauguay

Drills and skills and BBQ – Deschenes Community Centre, Gatineau

 

Saskatchewan – Oct. 6

Female coaching and various events with University of Regina women’s hockey team – Co-operators Arena, Regina
