The Vancouver Island Wave is off to a good start picking up points in their first game at the U15 Boys National Soccer Championships in Laval, Quebec on Thursday, October 4th, 2018.
The game was a scoreless draw against Quebec’s Panellinios Montréal FC.
On Friday the Wave will face Ontario’s Woodbridge Strikers in an important match to determine group standings (7am PST). Panellinios Montréal FC beat Woodbridge 3-0 on day one of the competition. 12 teams in 4 groups are vying to stay in medal contention with the top two teams in each group advancing to the knock-out stages. A win or tie tomorrow will advance the Wave to a quarter finals on Saturday.

The Vancouver Island Wave plays in the EA Sport BC Soccer Premier League (BCSPL) with boys and girls teams from U13 to U18. The Wave franchise is a partnership between Lower Island Soccer Association and the Upper Island Soccer Association to ensure youth players from the entire Island have an opportunity to participate in soccer at this level.
The U15 boys advanced to the national competition on June 23rd when they captured the BC Soccer Provincial Premier Cup title on home turf in Victoria, BC. This is the first National Championship appearance for the Wave program.
