The Victoria Cougars fell to the Saanich Braves 7-2 friday night. The VIJHL south divisions rivals faced off with a close first two periods ending in a blowout third.
Saanich was first to find the net as Dale McCabe scored on Cam Stevenson. The Cougars struggled to find the back of the until the dying seconds of the second period as Jack Hanrahan scored making the game 2-1.
The Cougars came out hungry in the third ready to equalize the game but they mishandled the puck and it was given away to the Braves as Zach Guerra would go score and make it 3-1, The Braves would then go on to score a handful of goals and Cougars were able to get one but it was too little too late into the third period.
The Braves are on a roll and have something to prove to the league this year , sending a strong message to the other teams in the VIJHL.
The Cougars on the other hand have yet to find their groove.
