UBC basketball teams get set for Courtside festival this Friday

The UBC Thunderbirds men’s and women’s basketball teams are preparing to play in front of a boisterous blue and gold packed house at historic War Memorial Gym for their third annual Courtside festival this Friday, October 26th. T-Bird pride and tradition will be on full display with generations of fans and alumni gathering for both teams season openers against the visiting Saskatchewan Huskies.

 

Long-time women’s head coach Deb Huband and her squad get Courtside started with a 6:00 p.m. PT tip off followed by veteran men’s head coach Kevin Hanson and his group getting going at 8:00 p.m. PT. Make sure you’re in your seats early to witness special guests take part in each of the ceremonial tip offs.

 

The night promises to be a must attend event delivered at an excellent value. Not only is it the first opportunity to see the new look 2018-19 editions of the T-Birds playing high calibre regular season Canada West Basketball, you’ll also enjoy soaking up the infectious atmosphere at an intimate venue.

 

Fans are encouraged to show up early for our pre-game festival on the war memorial gym concourse which will feature DJs and dance performances, games, giveaways, prizes, face painting and poster making stations, as well as photo ops with our T-Bird mascot ‘Thunder’.
