The Kamloops Blazers scored two third period goals to beat the Victoria Royals 3-2 on home ice on Wednesday night.

Kyrell Sopotyk had a goal and an assist and Luke Zazula had two assists. Jermaine Loewen and Josh Pillar had third period goals to help the Blazers.

Dylan Garand stopped 19 shots in goal to earn his third straight win in his third straight start.

Royals played against a pair of Victoria, BC natives in Dylan Garand and Sean Strange. Garand also had his first WHL start come against his hometown club on October 6, 2018.


After Two Periods:

For the first time this season, the Royals lost after leading through two periods. The club’s record is now 6-1-0-0 when leading after 40 minutes.


Europe Bound:

Yesterday, Royals’ forward Igor Martynov joined the Belarus Ice Hockey Association’s Under-20 Selection Camp. Belarus, who was relegated from the top group at the 2018 World Junior Championships, will compete in this year’s Division 1 Group A of the World Junior Championships in Fussen, Germany.
