Canada’s National Women’s U18 Team Roster Includes Two BC Hockey Players

Former Surrey Falcon Jennifer Gardiner has made the National Woman’s U18 team!

Hockey Canada has announced the roster for Canada’s National Women’s U18 Team for the 2019 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship. The roster includes two (2) BC Hockey players.

Two (2) BC players have been named to the National Women’s U18 team:

“Our staff has done an excellent job evaluating talent at the under-18 level through our summer camps, at our three (3) game series against the United States in August and with their club teams throughout the season,” said Gina Kingsbury, Hockey Canada’s Director of Women’s National Teams. “We’re excited to head to Japan with 21 players who gained international experience in the summer, four (4) players who can provide leadership from their experience at the 2018 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship and two (2) new athletes who will without a doubt strengthen our team.”


Canada will open the 2019 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship against Sweden on January 5, 2019 at 8 pm PT. CLICK HERE for the full tournament schedule.


Canada’s National Women’s Under-18 Team will look to earn its first gold medal at the IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship since 2014, having won gold four (4) times (2010, 2012, 2013, 2014), silver six (6) times (2008, 2009, 2011, 2015, 2016, 2017) and bronze once (2018).


Cherkowski and Gardiner are graduates of BC Hockey’s Female Program of Excellence (POE).
