The tournament will also feature two exhibition games between the Vikes men’s varsity team and the visiting UNBC Timberwolves. The Canada West match ups will take place both Dec. 28 and Dec. 29 at 3:30 p.m.
For the 2018 tournament RBC Dominion Securities continue in the role of the tournament’s presenting sponsor.

Dwane Ford, Vice President of RBC Dominion Securities, noted that “when growing up in small town Saskatchewan, I remember basketball being a throw away sport, which you did to keep in shape for other sports.  When I watch today’s high school athletes play basketball, I feel like I am on a different planet.  Such intensity, passion and excitement.  If you are a sports fan, this is an event not to be missed!”

Also, fully behind the tournament as a premium sponsor is the University of Victoria Student Recruitment and Global Engagement unit. Associate Director Zane Robison remarked “our department is once again delighted to be involved. We have a wonderful opportunity to showcase the extraordinary CARSA facility as well as encourage national and international competition.”

Vikes Alumni basketball chair Phil Ohl echoed the above sentiments and, in thanking sincerely the principal sponsors, likewise urged fans in the region to attend the games.

“We have eight very high-quality high school teams on display, including, in addition to locals Oak Bay and Claremont, squads from across Canada and Washington State. In addition, basketball aficionados may enjoy two Canada West non-conference exhibitions between the Vikes and UNBC. Any profit we might make through overall gate receipts will go towards allowing a current high school player to attend and play for UVIC in the future.”

Day 1 tournament action begins on Friday, Dec. 28, with the first of four school games tipping off at 10:00 a.m.

As an interlude, at 3:30 p.m. the UVic Vikes will continue their preparation for the second half of the Canada West season with the first of two exhibition games vs the UNBC Timberwolves. All high school games will be webcast live at
