The West Kelowna Warriors dominate the Cowichan Valley Capitals 6-0 Sunday afternoon.
The Warriors didn’t waste any time scoring early on. Lucas Cullen was able to get the Warriors on the board within the first 2 minutes to make it 1-0. The Warriors would then go on the powerplay only a minute later, and it was a nifty passing play between Chase Dubois and Mike Hardman leaving a wide open Parm Dhaliwal making it 2-0. Only a minute and a half later the Warriors would make it 3-0 thanks to Chase Dubois connecting off a Mike Hardman pass for the Warriors second power play goal of the afternoon. Things got out of hand at the 11 minute mark of the period with Garrett Ewert scoring his first goal of the season and then only 23 seconds later Willie Reim received a Mike Hardman pass to make it 5-0. The 5 goals scored in under ten minutes would not be a club record, the fastest 5 goals in Warriors history came in October of 2013 where the Warriors would score 5 goals in only 5:46, interestingly enough versus the Capitals. Mike Hardman would add another goal for the Warriors late in the period to make it 6-0 after the first period.
The Warriors would take their foot off the gas pedal throughout the game allowing a couple Capitals goals but that was it. One notable sequence was midway through the second period were Warriors forward Eric Olson and Capitals defender Doug Scott dropped the gloves and gave the home crowd right back into it with what might be a fight of the year candidate in the BCHL. The Capitals also had numerous ejections throughout the hockey game, most notably a repeat offender in Brady Lynn. Lynn was previously suspended this year for spearing a player and received ten games. This time, Lynn was ejected for kicking Wyatt Head when he was down on the ice. The Warriors would finish the game with a goal in the third from Max Bulawka and stellar goaltending from Brock Baier who would end up stopping 36 of 38 shots between the pipes.
Shots on goal 38-37 in favor of the Capitals.
WKW F Chase Dubois (1G-3A)
WKW G Brock Baier (36 Saves)
