The Victoria Grizzlies defeated the Langley Rivermen 6-4 on Friday night in a game where Victoria was able to find most of their success in the second period. The game started as Langley was able to find the back of the net only 4:17 into the first period as this would act as a wake-up call for Grizzlies. Langley continuously applied dangerous pressure, they were not able to get anything past Grizzlies’ Curtis Chapman. The Grizzlies then made their way in order to find the game-tying goal. Carter Berger scored picking up his 19th goal of the season with assists from Jeremie Bucheler (A28) and Riley Hughes (A20).

The Grizzlies came second hungry for goals looking to blow out the game, and that’s what they did. The Grizzlies scored four unanswered goals making Langley switch their goaltender. Victoria’s goals were from Carter Berger who picked up his second of the night (20), Marty Westhaver (13), Alex Newhook (20) and Jarin Sutton picking up his 1st of the year.

Langley went on into the third period looking to gain some momentum to get back into the game. Tanner Vesluis picked up his 2nd and 3rd of the game for the Rivermen. Victoria picked up the empty netter as Nico Sommerville picked up his 4th of the season. Langley capitalized on the power play in the dying seconds of the third but it wasn’t enough as the Grizzlies were able to hold the Rivermen off.
