After a five-set marathon on Friday the Chargers made quick work of the Mariners on Saturday in the three-set sweep.

The Chargers dressed only seven players and were led by Vitor Periera’s 14 kills and Morgan Humphreys’ 13.

The Mariners countered with veteran Braydon Brouwer and his 10 kills. Doug Groenendijk chipped in with eight kills.

The PACWEST playoff picture became crystal clear following this match. The Chargers (18-6) finish with the second seed and the first round bye at the PACWEST championship next week. The Mariners (16-8) meanwhile lockdown the fourth seed and will battle the host COTR Avalanche (8-16) on Thursday in a quarterfinal. The winner moves on, the loser goes home.

Douglas Royals 3 – 25-21, 16-25, 25-20, 14-25, 15-10
Capilano Blues 2

A back and forth match between two very good teams on Saturday with the Royals coming out on top. The duo of Reid Marriott and Max Haronga were again the difference makings. Marriott had a match high 23 kills and added 10 digs. Haronga meanwhile finished with 14 kills and nine digs.

The Blues played a solid match with a fairly balanced offence. Markiel Simpson led his team with 12 kills and Zarley Zalusky had 11.

The Royals (20-4) finish in the top spot by four points and will have a first round bye at the PACWEST championships next weekend. The Blues (18-6) finish as the third seed and will face the sixth seeded CBC Bearcats (2-22) in a quarterfinal on Thursday in Cranbrook.
