Team BC boxer Brayden Sims punching for gold at the Canada Winter Games


Team BC boxer Brayden Sims will fight for a gold medal at the Canada Winter Games in the 60 kilogram event.

Sims (Fort St. John) defeated Jad Khabbaz of Quebec 2-0 after the referee stopped the contest.

In the 64 kg event Team BC boxer Jerome Leroyer (Nanaimo) was defeated by Sammy MOrisset of Quebec, 5-0.

Dylan Clark (Cranbrook) was defeated by Christopher Zuri 5-0 in the 69 kg event.

In the 75 kg event, Jannick Lacroix from Alberta defeated Team BC’s Jonathan Hannah (North Vancouver, 5-0.

Brayden Hellekson (Nelson) lost 5-0 to Isaiah Haya of New Brunswick in the 81 kg event.

Next up for the athletes who did not win their bouts is repechage on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 7 p.m. at Westerner Park.
