With Head Coach Shane Beatty taking over half-way through the season last year and JC Boice rejoining the team late in the season as Offensive Coordinator, the dynamic duo is back together and are focused on winning another Cullen Cup Championship.
“It is exciting for Shane and I to be back together coaching. What we did in 2016 was special and we have laid solid plans to reestablish Rebel greatness for the 2019 season. We are bringing in some very good coaches and players and our goal is to win a national championship for the Westshore community,” says Coach Boice.
Coach Beatty has been coaching football for over twenty years at both the University and Junior football levels. Prior to the Rebels he was the Head Coach of the Okanagan Suns for 3 seasons, and was awarded CJFL Coach of the Year twice, and has won the BCFC Championship both with the Suns and the Rebels. He was also a Linebacker for the Rebels in 1988 & 1989.
“As a Rebels Alumni and Defensive Coach since 2016 I am back home where I belong. It is going to be an exciting season for our team and Coaches as we are bringing on new experienced Coaches to round out our coaching staff. We also have some strong players returning and have been recruiting and looking for talent that will be able to live up to Coach Boice and mine’s expectations for the Rebels this season,” states Coach Beatty.
JC Boice has a long history of coaching success and is a Senior QB Coach for NFA where he works with quarterbacks in the NFL, NCAA and top US high schools. JC is also a top rated speaker for the Glazier Coaching Clinics, the US’s largest football coaching clinic tour. As Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator of the Rebels in 2016 he was named both the BCFC and CJFL Coach of the Year as his offense set both BCFC and CJFL records.
Additional Coaches include ex-CFL player Defensive Back Todd Wiseman. Todd played at Simon Fraser University, San Diego State University and in 1987 was drafted in the 2nd round to the BC Lions. He then went on to play for the Toronto Argonauts and the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. In 1992 he was the CFL East All-Star. Todd will be a Consultant with the team and will help out during away games and throughout the playoffs.
Additional Coaches include Luc Catellier, Jamie Klassen and Mike Williams among others. Luc was an all CJFL Canadian Cornerback in 2015 for the Edmonton Wildcats and went on to play for the University of Manitoba, Jamie was a Defensive Lineman at Bute College and the University of Manitoba and has coached the last few years with the Okanagan Sun and the Westshore Rebels and Mike Williams was an Offensive Lineman for Southwestern College, Payless (Rebels Alumni) and the University of BC.
