The Victoria Royals edged the US Division leading Everett Silvertips 3-2 in a shootout and were led by goaltender Griffen Outhouse’s 35 save performance, in their final home contest of the regular season.

This match-up against the Everett Silvertips was the Royals’ final regular season contest of the 2018-19 campaign at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre. On the season, Victoria finished with a record of 21-11-1-1 on home ice.

This evening marked the final regular season home game for the Royals’ three 20-year-old players: goaltender Griffen Outhouse, defenceman Ralph Jarratt, and forward Kody McDonald. Outhouse was listed as an undrafted player by Victoria in 2014. Jarratt was drafted by the Royals in the second round, 37th overall, in the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. Finally, McDonald was acquired earlier this season in a trade with the Prince Albert Raiders.

Royals’ defencemen Kaden Reinders and Noah Lamb made their home debuts against the Silvertips tonight. Reinders was recalled from the Grand Prairie Storm Midget AAA Team of the Alberta Midget Hockey League (AMHL), while Lamb was brought up from the Knights of Columbus Pats Midget AAA Team of the AMHL.

Victoria concludes their regular season Saturday night in Everett against the Silvertips at 7:05 p.m. In their three contests this season, the Royals are 2-1-0-0 against Everett.

Playoff Bound: The Royals return home on Friday, March 22nd and 23rd to battle either the Kelowna Rockets or Kamloops Blazers in their first matchups of Round 1 of the 2019 WHL Playoffs.
