This week two teams from Island Elite Cheerleading, Swell and Riptide, competed at the international cheerleading Summit. Held at the ESPN World Wide Sports Centre in Orlando the Summit is the most prestigious competition in the world for level one to four teams. In order to compete at this event teams must first earn an invitation during their regular season. This is the Island Elite’s second year attending.
Today, for the first time in history a Vancouver Island cheer team, Swell, will be advancing to the finals of the Summit. Today in semi-finals they competed against teams from Japan, the USA, Sweden and England. In finals they will be competing against some of these teams again for the title of international champion.
Swell is a Senior Level 3 team with 16 athletes from Vancouver Island.
