In what could be best described as a statement victory, the Victoria Shamrocks beat the Nanaimo Timbermen 12-9 at the Frank Crane Arena. Led by rookies Keegan Bell, Austin Madronic, and Larson Sundown, the Shamrocks secured their first win of the season. Considered a must-win for the Rocks, it was certainly a triumphant victory.

Ball and Madronic were the leading scorers Thursday as they each contributed a goal and four assists for Victoria. Sundown had 2 goals, including his first career goal when he scored 8:36 into the first period. But the biggest contribution of the night arguably came from Peter Dubenski, who relieved starter Cody Hagedorn in the third period. Dubenski made 15 saves in the third period, with some absolutely incredible stops. The former Timbermen netminder traded to the Shamrocks just 11 days ago might have already proved his value just in one game.

Casey Jackson added 2 goals and 2 assists to his name while Ben McCullough and Dallas Wade each put in a goal for the Rocks. Steve Priolo also had 2 goals for Victoria while Tyler Burton scored a goal and was 16 of 24 in the face-off circle. While Thursday was a nice win, it will be short-lived as the team travels to Maple Ridge Sunday to face-off against the 2019 WLA Champions, the Burrards.
