Vancouver Canucks signed goaltender Arturs Silovs to an entry level contract.
Silovs, 18, split the 2018.19 season between HK Riga (MHL) and HS Riga (Latvia). He posted a 2.45 goals against average and .920 save percentage over seven games with HK Riga. With HS Riga, Silovs recorded a .914 save percentage and 3.26 goals against average in 20 games.
On the international stage, Silovs represented team Latvia at the World Under-18 Championship last season. He posted the tournament’s fifth best save percentage (.918) and only two goaltenders faced more shots per game in the tournament.
The 6’4″, 203-pound goaltender was drafted by the Canucks in the sixth round, 156th overall in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft.
