August 25th, 2019 Victoria, BC (ISN) – The Westshore Rebels suffered their first defeat Saturday afternoon, falling to the undefeated Langley Rams 40-30 at McLeod Stadium after another signature comeback bid fell short this time for the Langford-based team.
The Rebels’ would fall behind out of the gate as Rams’ QB Duncan Little would orchestrate his team to a 24 point lead late into the first half until Rebels’ QB Shawn Lal would throw to receiver Brycen Mayoh near the Rams’ goal line and dive into the end zone to put their first points on the board down 24-7 at half time.
The Rams would extend their lead in the third frame with back up QB Tristen Secord-Yanciw at the helm, going up on a two for one and a 38-14 lead with 7:19 remaining after scoring a pair of TD’s to the Rebels’ single major. Ram’s QB Little would not return to the game.
The Rebel’s would pressure the Rams in the final quarter of play, holding the #2 ranked CJFL team to a mere two points. The Rebels would score 2 TD’s and a safety, but despite the comeback effort, time would be the deciding factor in the game, giving the Rams the much deserved victory and first place in the BCFC through four weekends of play.
