The BC Hockey League announced today that Shaw Communications has come on board as one of the league’s Founding Partners. This multi-year agreement will see Shaw become the title sponsor of the BCHL Playoffs, which take place in March and April each season.
“Known as a well-respected communications company across Canada, Shaw is a great fit as one of the league’s founding partners,” said BCHL Commissioner Chris Hebb. “The playoffs are the highlight of the BCHL season, and we are excited to have Shaw helping to deliver the most exciting part of the year to the fans.”
The BCHL and Shaw will also present a monthly Shaw BCHL Community Hero Award where, each month of the regular season, fans will have an opportunity to nominate a player whose achievements in the community stand above the rest. For more details, please visit BCHL.ca/communityhero.
The two brands will also work in conjunction to launch the Shaw BCHL Scholarship Award, where five players, who did not receive an NCAA scholarship, will be chosen to receive a $2,000 Scholarship Award to a Canadian post-secondary institution.
“The BCHL is an integral part of communities across B.C., bringing together fans and players every week,” said Chethan Lakshman, Vice President, External Affairs, Shaw Communications. “Shaw is proud to be an active employer and member of the business community in BCHL cities while providing thousands of families there with internet and video services. Through our partnership with the BCHL, we are eager to further support the community and continue building relationships with fans, families and businesses across the province.”
Fans can expect to see Shaw on the back of all 17 BCHL team jerseys, on the BCHL website and in arenas across the province.
