The Victoria Royals went head to head with the Kamloops on Saturday night, in which the Royals secured the win splitting the series. The game started as the Royals honored head equipment manager Matt Auerbach who worked his 1000th career regular-season WHL game. Auerbach had been with the team since its start with Chilliwack in 2006 to present.
The first period commenced as the new captain Philip Shultz led the charge for the Royals as they were eager to score first. It would not take long as Tauren Fizer received a pass from Kaid Oliver broke through the Kamloops defense making no error as he picked the corner and scored his 6th goal of the season. The Royals would find the back of the net again as newly added Will Warm released a laser of a shot scoring his first as a Royal with an assist from Keanu Derungs and Brandon Cutler.

But Royals’ goaltender Shane Farkas stood tall stopping all shots he faced as the Blazers kept adding pressure. The Blazers were able to spoil the shutout with 90 seconds left as Zane Franklin picked up his 8th after throwing the puck on net which seaked through the pads of Farkas. The Royals held on the secure the game for Farkas and for the 3,880 fans in-crowd.
