The Victoria Royals came back to defeat the Edmonton Oil Kings 5-3 on Friday night. The Royals were kept in the game as Shane Farkas stopped 36 out of 39 shots he faced as well as Royals captain Phillip Schultz scoring his 2nd career hattrick, leaving the crowd of 5,215 in a happy mood.
The Royals were quick to find the back of the net in the first period as captain Phillip Schultz scored with an assist from Tarun Fizer setting the tone for the night. The Oil Kings tied it not long after when Carter Souch scored unassisted picking up his 8th of the season. Philip Schultz would score again with limited time left in the period with an assist from yet again Tarun Fizer picking up his second of the night.
Edmonton would tie it up in the second frame as Riley Sawchuk scored his 11th with assists from David Kope and Aidan Lawson. The Royal would be up on the man advantage and give the puck up leaving the Oil Kings with a breakaway leaving Liam Keeler no choice but to take advantage and score with an assist from Ethan Cap.
The Royals would start to make a comeback as Jacob Herauf scored his second of the season with the help of Mitch Prowse and Tarun Fizer tying the game a three apiece. Victoria went on to strike again when Keanu Derungs scored his fifth of the season with the help of Logan Doust and Nolan Jones. They would tack on one last goal as the captain Phillip Schultz scored his 3rd goal of the night sending the hats flying. The Royals now improve to a record of 11-8-1.
