Another match and another three-set sweep for the Mariners on Sunday winning their 22nd straight with Jane Nyukhalova leading the way with 11 kills and seven digs. Danielle Groenendijk added eight kills and 10 digs while setters Shelby Dorman-Banks and Portia Switzer combined for 30 assists.

The Blues struggled to score points recording 20 kills over the match. Offensive power Meghan Koven was held to just two kills.

Next weekend the Mariners (22-0) face the Camosun Chargers (15-7) in a battle of the top two teams while the Blues (8-14) have a home and home with the Douglas Royals (12-10).

The Mariners pull into a second place tie with the Blues after a four-set victory on Sunday and a weekend split. The Mariners scored by committee with a very balanced offence. Jeff Webb and Braydon Brouwer each tallied nine kills and Dario De Queiroz-Pereira threw down seven kills and nine digs. Setter Ty Dvorack ran an excellent offence with 36 assists.

On the other side of the net the Blues saw Rafael Hilario finish with 13 kills and 10 digs while Ben Friesen gathered 11 kills.

Both teams are now 17-5, two points behind the Douglas Royals for first place in the PACWEST standings. All three teams have two matches to play in the regular season. The Blues (17-5) face the Royals (18-4) next week end in a pair of matches and the Mariners (17-5) have a home and home with the Camosun Chargers (12-10).
