Day Three: 2020 Women's Paralympic Qualifier

After beating Finland to finish first in preliminary play earlier today, Canada defeated Slovenia this evening to advance to the gold-medal match of the Women’s Paralympic Qualifier at the Canada Games Centre in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Both matches today were decisive 3-0 wins. Canada faces Ukraine in the gold-medal match on Saturday after Ukraine defeated Germany in five sets.

“I think the two matches today were a great opportunity to work on our systems and solidify a few things that we want to bring tomorrow,” said Nicole Ban, head coach of the Canadian women’s sitting volleyball team. “We played them before (Ukraine) in this tournament, but we know they are going to come fighting. It’s exciting.”

The winner of the gold-medal match tomorrow punches a ticket to Tokyo 2020.
