HighlandersLogoMay 26, 2013, Victoria, BC (ISN) - The Victoria Highlanders maintained their undefeated record in the Professional Development League last night with a 2-2 draw against the North Sound SeaWolves at Royal Athletic Park.

The Highlanders came out strong once again, and the SeaWolves surrendered four corners within the first ten minutes of the match. The Highlanders continued to press through the first 20 minutes, although North Sound remained dangerous on the counter. The Highlanders inability to convert on early chances proved costly, as the SeaWolves opened the scoring with a goal by Zachary Hamer in the 33rd minute. The first half ended with North Sound up 1-0.

The second half opened with somewhat lacklustre play on both sides, with few chances. The Highlanders, however, tied the match in the 66th minute, as Riley O'Neill scored on a penalty kick, awarded from a foul on midfielder Sahil Sandhu after a failure by the SeaWolves to clear a long cross from the box. This seemed to spark the Highlanders, and they began to test the SeaWolves with a more direct over the top approach. This paid off in the 69th minute as Jodie Hughes scored off another long cross to give the Highlanders the lead, the result of a mix-up between defender and keeper in clearing. The Sea Wolves continued to create chances throughout the last 20 minutes, and were perhaps the fresher side, with the Highlanders playing their third match in 8 days. North sound forward David Durrant scored in the 86th minute to secure the draw.
