camosun(ISN) - The Camosun Chargers women's and men's basketball teams both went down to defeat Friday in the semi-finals of the PACWEST Provincial Basketball Championships.

The Camosun College Chargers women took a beating in yesterday's semifinal match against the top seeded UNBC Timberwolves and were defeated 71-48 at the PACWEST Provincial Basketball Championships.

Second-year wing/point Aija Salvador (Oak Bay) earned Player of the Game with 19 pts & 7 rebounds. The loss puts Camosun in today's Bronze medal match where the Chargers (#5) take on the hosting Capilano Blues (#3) for a chance to bring home some hardware. UNBC and VIU, the top two teams in the tournament, battle it out for Gold at 6pm.

The Camosun men also suffered defeat in their semifinal match losing 93-84 to the No. 2 ranked UNBC Timberwolves.

Camosun point guard Jordan Elvedahl recieved Player of the Game with 19 pts & 9 assists. James Blandford, who was recently named the conference's Rookie of the Year, followed with 19 pts & 8 rebounds. The Chargers men (#3) move on to today's Bronze medal match at 3pm against Capilano (#5). UNBC (#2) and VIU (#1) go for the Gold at 8pm.

Tune in as the Chargers men and women tip-off against the hosting Capilano Blues today at 1pm and 3pm for BRONZE! Expect a great crowd and some exciting action on the hardwood!
